Player for protected "audio" CDs?
(too old to reply)

Hi all,
I am looking for a CD player that can access copy-protected "audio" CDs
(e.g. Dido's Life for rent). Of course I have tried KsCD form the KDE
suite. I get a list of the tracks via freeDB, but cannot play them
(buttons in KsCD do not react). It does work for "normal" unprotected
audio CDs. In addition, I know I can access the same CD from MacOs on
the same machine (=same builtin CD player), so it is not a hardware
issue. I also can rip the CD (although incredibly slowly) to mp3 or ogg
and then play it with a variety of players, but this is not what I want.
I looked around in the Debian archives, and of course in Google, but I
did not come up with anything useful.

ripping uses cdparanoia which has a whole bunch of settings. You are
ripping with the slowest infinite checking setting.
