hi,

is it possible, with yaboot, to manage a dual boot AIX/Linux ?
Btw, yaboot is able to boot an AIX system?

AFAIK the answer is NO.
unless yaboot has been changed, it only handles a single disk

On newer POWER machines (newer than the one you have listed) there is
a way to set the boot order in the sms startup menus. That way you
could change boot drives each reboot (if you wanted to).

Does your distribution habe no possibility to chance what you want to boot ?


Suse youses Lilo. -> Here you can say:
Boot from this or this harddisk, or from were others..

So you can say (for example):

Boot Windows, or Boot Linux, or Boot from a Networkdevice.

Unfortunately the boot question has to do with a Power PC based
machine, not an Intel. The boot process is significantly different.

yaboot is unable to cross disks, so it's a firmware decision that
tells the hardware which drive is the boot drive - no partitioning
of the drive is supported.
