Radeon Mobility 9700 on Linux/PPC?

Anyone had any joy getting hardware acceleration to work for this card
on PPC Linux (specifically Mandrake 10.1 on a Powerbook G4)?

The fglrx driver claims to support it with Xorg 6.7.0, which is what I'm
running, but I'm definitely not seeing any... not sure how much longer I
can survive without my TuxRacer fix :)

I see ATI have released new drivers in the past week or so, but as usual
they're x86 only :/

Calum.

It's been over a year since I had my old laptop with a Mobility Radeon in
it. That was a 7500 if I remember correctly, and the only driver with 3D
acceleration for it was the generic radeon driver. I was unable to find any
proprietary drivers for the card, so you might be in the same situation.

Or, if there are better drivers for your card, the problem might be with
xorg. I was missing acceleration in xorg with the generic packages supplied
by Mandrake. Of course, my gfx adapter now is an integrated Intel one, but
still it might be worth trying to upgrade xorg with either an unofficial
one like Thac's or the one on Cooker. It's easy to downgrade back anyway.
I'm running the Thac ones without any problems at all. Take a look at

http://rpm.nyvalls.se/10.1/RPMS/kde-3.3.2/

- in case you get tempted, I would suggest you _not_ install the KDE RPMs
there, btw :)

Daniel

Oh, sorry, I overlooked the PPC part - that links is pretty useless then :/

http://r300.sourceforge.net/

Is my suggestion.

Also, you may want to check out the gatos project, some of the people
there are more knowledgable about Radeon products.
