I am looking for a free, small downloadable mini-linux-distri for a power
book 400. I have repaired this book for a friend and I want to test it, but
there is noch OS installed on it. Because I only have the possibility to
download via ISDN, the size of the distri must not be larger than ~20MB. I
only want to boot a krnel and have a look at the hardware (like hdd, CD-ROM
etc.) with fdisk or so.

This is my first ppc and I don't get the information via google...

Many thanks & best regards
Andreas

Download the Debian Installer:

http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/sarge_d-i/powerpc/rc2/sarge-powerpc-netinst.iso

200something MB, that is also a good rescue CD, or try the Business Card:

http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/sarge_d-i/powerpc/rc2/sarge-powerpc-businesscard.iso

100something, but I am not sure there are all the tools you'll need.

For other downloads, http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

I can (well, almost) hear you asking yourselves "why?". Hurd will be
out in a year (or two, or next month, who knows), and I've already got
minix.
