Does anyone have a clue as to how to make one of the live cd distros
work on a mac? The packages are touted as easy to use and that well may
be true but the hurdle of getting them to boot seems high. I have tried
Ubuntu and livecd-powerpc-604e-rev4860 (not sure from where now) with
no success at all. They both require the use of Bootx but I keep
getting errors that the boot kernal can't find the /root file system. I
have tried putting kernal arguments in Bootx but the fact is I have no
idea where the /root is on the cd. There seems to be nothing on the
distributing sites and the readme files on the disk are not particularly
helpful either. One was not even written in good grammer. Whoever
wrote it obviously did not take anywhere nearly as long to write it as
this message takes to read.
The frustration level of trying to get a useable system on an old mac is
really about too much. It took me an afternoon to get Libranet up and
running on a pentium machine that is every bit as archaic as the macs I
use but after 6 months of twiddling on the mac I have no system that
will do more than take care of itself.
Any help with the live cds would be much appreciated.
