Hi All,

I have attempted to install Debian Sarge on an IBM Power3 machine. After
some initial issues I managed to boot from the CD and get into the
installer.

My problem starts when the installer tries to mount the CD. The process
hangs on loading the sym53c8xx driver or complains about not finding a
CDROM when I exclude this driver.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks,

Rik

I can't myself, but you can always ask on the debian-powerpc list if
you don't have success here.

For debian installation on Power (tested on Power4 and p5) see
http://oss.gonicus.de/openpower/index.php/FAQ#How_to_install_Debian_GNU.2FLinux_on_OpenPower_or_POWER5

it should work on Power3 too.

If the link does not work go to http://oss.gonicus.de/openpower and
click on FAQ.
