I installed Debian 3 to my secondary computer, old 4400/200 for
experimental use. I have not managed to make Xdm work for the old
monitor, Apple Color Display 16". If somebody has worked it out I
would be delighted to see the XF86Config-4 posted here in to this
newsgroup.

Thanks. I will give it a try. I can see that I will still have to
change the parts relating to the card since I have no ATI chip that I
know of. Every little bit helps.

I think the problem has to do with the video drivers needed. Mine keeps
returning the error: 'screen not found'. I am using a UMax SuperMac
C600. It may not be as much horsepower as yours. (603e 200mhz)
There seemes to be no valid driver on the list and I have heard of
nothing that promises to work.

These links seemed to be most useful:

http://www.sharplabs.com:8668/space/Configuration+of+XF86Config

I could not make X-work at all with fbdev driver. With ATI 8-bit I managed
to appear a very distorted screen in Xdm. Hope someone will tell me the
right settings.
