I hope this is not one of the stupid question, you are laughing at,
but I am down with my nervs.

I use Ubuntu Linux on my iBook g4 - and I can not switch to the terminal
on x-window. Also there is a problem with the at-symbol! Which key is
the @-symbol (at)?

Try this. Press in this very order:

Ctrl+Alt+Fn+F1/F7.

The Fn key is the one that triggers the FX keys to work as expected :)

Which keymap do you use?
Even though it is not recommended, I suggest you to remap your Apple key
to work as AltGr: read how here
